Exactly - it's a double win.

I've never appreciated how stupid it was as I had 3 PPs last year, but in previous years (prior to reintroducing the draft), the teams with 2 PPs never suffered the ignominy of a dud player, they had the open market to choose from.

Feels like there's been a few good buys but maybe too early this year- Luke Brooks( my 11th choice halfback) Josh Hoffman ( my 42nd choice W/C...)? Robbie Rochow (my 24th choice prop)...

We still have time to change rules - it hasn't impacted anything to date.

I'll let the commissioner deal with that shitstorm

James, shut the fuck up. Were you here when we made this rule? No, so your opinion is not valid. If you would like to address issues for next season, feel free. But by then, after everyone in this comp, including Timmah, has handed your arse back to you, you will probably have had enough and quit again...

I agree with Jaff (that hurts), we can't change rules mid draft. Not a single person last year had a whinge, and perhaps that was because the majority of teams had a 3rd PP. It's no ones fault but your own that you don't this year. So suck it up gentlemen.

Oh, and getting back to the draft, this morning, i got double sniped. Thanks Pete and Dreas. Here's to Walker killing it at 5/8.

The only reason the pps are part of the draft is to attempt to stop idiots buying someone else's protected player in the madness that is the open market. So it's 10 draft players each.

That's how we used to do it, but we had to change because f*cktards couldn't get their head around it. So it's just the one benefit. I've been a 2 pp before and dealt with it.

Ahhhh the cavalry has arrived. If any one wants to check page one of this thread you will see clear evidence of your commissioner trying to pass the no dud bill, could have used some support from the floor then. Not now that bill is dead and buried.

Next people will be asking me to increase the salary cap because they spent all their money on the draft. That wont be happening for the record....

While we're at it, all teams with a 'Z' in their name get a forty point head start. It's totally fine - it hasn't impacted anything to date.

As Jaf has mentioned, and is plainly obvious, nothing has changed since pre-draft days.
Sigh.

I actually think there are very few players worth 3x their price after 120 players so not really that worried about it.

Ireckon there is not alot out there worth 3 times their price now. Maybe 10 players are too many to draft? Something to consider in future years?

That said, my strategy of picking based on players' names (alliteration, classlessness, and bonus points to any Kyles), probably isn't all that bad.

Learning quickly? In a strictly technical sense, I have won this shit, you know.

Now pick up the pace you goons. Leave all those lovely Kyles (I see 4 left) alone though ok? They're for my maximum-Kyle dream team.

I have no where near the level of confidence I did after last years draft which could be a good thing as I failed to makes the final.

Teams are looking pretty even this year!!!

done. even i kept up.

Final round pick was decided on the face that any man that plays on with a broken hand gets a place in TOA - hard man better start in round 2.

so what happens now? I pick my two PP and then pick Manu for my dud player?

Danny. You are talking big for a replacemen.. Need I remind you that this competition wouldn't exist without the founding fathers, I being one of them. Have a little respect you basketball loving little c-bucket.

Oh Jimbo, why you gonna hate on b-ball?  Is it because you get jealous of all the action around someone else's rim?  Is it because crowd don't go wild when you get reverse jammed?  Or is it because when american sportsmen make up words, they're not as lame as "replacemen" (I'll stick with your poor choice of grammar for arguements sake...)?

As for what happens now, you pick some decent players, and hope you can find a way to sand your name off that wooden spoon.

Re: The Draft 2014

if you knew your history then you'd know the term 'replacement' was actually coined by Americans during WWII who were averse to the newbies coming in post the d-day landings and thinking they have some sort of claim on how things should be done. Incidentally, they probably quite like their basketball.

I am not against people wearing b-ball outfits thinking they are some sort of rapper bad ass and this is despite them never picking up a b-ball or, even worse, having no ability to get their balls anywhere near a rim because of all the cheap beer you, I mean they (sorry) have consumed...

All I am saying is. I am no newbie and have every right to make my opinions heard. I started this comp with the founding fathers and you are just, well, a piece of shit ring in aka replacement

Thank Jesus that is over.

I will draft the PPs and the duds this afternoon (once these last 3 have gone) then I propose opeb recruitment starts tomorrow at 8am melbourne time.

Good luck danny and jaffs, hope that 1.5 mil goes a long way for you.

I reckon we just go open recruitment as soon as you get the PPs and duds done.  As long as you put your picks through some time in the opening 24hr window, it doesn't matter, so a unified starting time may not be needed.  In fact, once all the picks are made, will the comp just go straight into that 24hr period anyway?

From the site:
Initial Recruitment Period
Once the draft is complete a 24 hour Initial Recruit Period will commence (longer on weekends). All bids placed within the period will expire at the end of that 24 hours.

Sippid wrote:Good luck danny and jaffs, hope that 1.5 mil goes a long way for you.

And I'm alright with a tight budget.  There is not going to be a whole lot of money anywhere after the top kickers go, so it won't just be us two scraping our coins together.

I could get mad, and I deserve to be angry, I guess. But missing out on five players to Sipp is quickly forgotten by outbidding RickyD for CoreyP. I needed that guy...

9/9 though, round of applause.

yeah props to the LFBs for the ballsy Thurston bid.

Seems most coaches got a reasonable hit rate on their bids, not too many shit-ons evident, which is almost a bit disappointing...

I lost some of my bigger bids so still work to do, but closest snakeout was Kane Linnett by 1k, which I won't lose too much sleep over.
